Bobby Cook Gallagher is a skilled actor and singer with a magnetic, thoughtful stage presence. From concert work, to musical theatre, to plays, Gallagher approaches roles with detail and grace, grounded in solid acting, singing, and dance technique. He was slated to perform the role of Rapunzel’s Prince in Into the Woods at the Princeton Festival, which was cancelled due to Covid. Most recently, Bobby performed as Ensemble/ Mr. Fezziwig Understudy in A Christmas Carol at White Plains Performing Arts Center, and as a Swing in Finding Madame Curie at Theatre Row.

Gallagher appears in a diverse lineup of musical theatre pieces, from golden-age standards to new classics. Gallagher appeared as Sky in Mamma Mia! the ever-popular ABBA jukebox musical, at Sierra Repertory Theater and as Cain/Japeth in Music Center at Strathmore’s production of Children of Eden, where he constructed a layered, soulful portrayal of the rebellious, curious son of Noah. His expressive voice and musicality made Cain’s journey visceral, compelling, and tragic.

In Seven Brides for Seven Brothers at Circa ‘21, Gallagher played the role of Ephraim. With his athletic, exuberant dancing and his infectiously joyful stage presence, Gallagher soared through the frontier setting, ably taking on some of the most iconic dance numbers in the musical theatre canon.  He also performed the role of Pasquale in The Most Happy Fella, and Oscar Lindquist in Sweet Charity at The Hartke Theatre.

Gallagher’s detailed character work and dedication to text make him an ideal collaborator on new works. Gallagher played Don Leopoldo in the world premiére production of La perdida at The Hartke Theatre, a musical retelling of The Winter’s Tale set in revolution-era Mexico. Gallagher explored the new text with curiosity and detail, balancing character and setting with the work’s classical inspiration.

Additionally, Gallagher appeared as Fred/Young Marley, the generous nephew of Ebenezer Scrooge/the younger version of Scrooge’s business partner, in A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens’ classic parable of charity and giving. He imbued the role of Fred with warm, charming elegance. His performance of Young Marley was earnest and heartbreaking.

As a concert artist, Gallagher appeared in the national tours of Holidays Around the World and National Broadway Chorus. He also played the role of Tony in a West Side Story Revue at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, his heartfelt, soaring voice capturing the character’s journey.

Gallagher is a graduate of the Catholic University of America with a Bachelor of Music in Musical Theatre.
