BIOGRAPHY

Joseph C. Townsend is a Middle Eastern American Actor and Singer most well-known for his “gargantuan voice” and “emotional commitment” (BroadwayWorld). Joseph booked his first job on the national tour of Dr. Seuss’ classic holiday tale, How the Grinch Stole Christmas: The Musical. Post tour, he studied at the Manhattan School of Music and the Stella Adler Studio of Acting. He has since performed in Oliver at the Paper Mill Playhouse, various regional theaters, and a contemporary reimagining of Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro in Italy. Joseph has performed regularly as a guest star in concerts at Lincoln Center, The Town Hall, Birdland Jazz, Feinstein’s/54 Below, and The Green Room 42 in New York City. Joe had the honor of singing “Over the Rainbow” at the Smithsonian Institute of American History in Washington, D.C. for the unveiling ceremony of Judy Garland’s Ruby Slippers, after their 2-year restoration process was complete. Joseph has performed the National Anthem a whopping 90 times for various Veterans, sporting, political, and ceremonial events including for the NYC FBI Headquarters and The Wall That Heals. In 2020, Joseph was nominated “Best Vocalist of the Decade” by BroadwayWorld, after having just made his cabaret debut.
