BIOGRAPHY
Oliver Prose is a natural, detailed actor with a stand-out voice, and an incredible mastery of nuance. Favorite regional credits include performances as Trekkie Monster in Avenue Q, Abraham in Altar Boyz, and as a soloist in Godspell. Prose is a recent graduate from the NYU Tisch School of the Arts BFA program where he studied in New Studio on Broadway, Experimental Theatre Wing, and International Theatre Workshop. While at NYU, he had the pleasure of performing a wide range of leading roles in each of those studios highlighting all corners of the theatrical repertoire including: Konstantin, the playwright, in Anton Chekov’s masterwork The Seagull, Joe in Stephen Schwartz’ hit musical Working; young dynamo tycoon Donald Marshall III in the record-breaking 1919 classic musical Irene under the direction of Brian Hill; and wrongfully convicted factory Superintendent Leo Frank in Jason Robert Brown and Alfred Uhry’s Tony-winning fan favorite Parade.
Oliver’s professionalism and reliable technique place him on a shortlist of in-demand actors to develop new theatre. His resume includes collaborations with: Jeanine Tesori & David Lindsay Abaire as Aaron in their new musical Untitled; Adam Bock as Joey in his new play The Thugs; Wes Braver and Rachel Dean as the heroic Perseus in their new musical based on the Greek myth Medusa; Jill Sobule, Robin Eaton, and Jim Lewis with a throwback to Tim Curry as Johnny LaGuardia in their musical adaptation of the 80’s hit cult film Times Square directed by Steve Cosson; and with Sean McCabe & Jinhee Kim as the title character in their new musical comedy Saint Sebastian.
In concert, Oliver appears in venues throughout New York City including The Public Theatre’s Joe’s Pub, The Duplex, and Dixon Place. As a dancer, he was featured in Virgin Voyages at the Playstation Theatre choreographed by Sam Pinkleton & Ani Taj, and Of Granite & Glass at River to River Festival choreographed by Catherine Galasso.
