Current as of September 4, 2025 CRITICAL ACCLAIM "...always precise and smooth..." – New York Classical Review Brahms' Ein deutsches Requiem – " The Dessoff current music director, the excellent Malcolm J. Merriweather, led the musicians for most of the piece. Merriweather, always precise and smooth, projected a feeling of concentration on all parts with equal care and confidence. As a whole, this was a worthy celebration of a fine and under-appreciated ensemble." __________ "Meticulously prepared by Malcolm J. Merriweather..." – New York Classical Review Mahler's Symphony No. 2 – "The ultra-pianissimo entrance of the New York Philharmonic Chorus was every bit as 'misterioso' as the composer indicated. Meticulously prepared by Malcolm J. Merriweather, the ensemble sang with heart and precise intonation, and one didn’t mind trading some articulation of the text for their richly blended tone." __________ "...exacting preparation by...Malcolm J. Merriweather..." – New York Classical Review Mostly Mozart – "The chorus, though variously billed as the Mostly Mozart Festival Chorus and the Summer for the City Chorus, suffered no confusion as to how to sing, thanks to exacting preparation by its director, Malcolm J. Merriweather. For energy and breath support, accuracy of pitch, clear articulation in fast passages, and variety of tone color, the group added luster to its name, whatever that is." __________ "[T]he New York Philharmonic Chorus, directed by Malcolm J. Merriweather...leaned into Ravel’s rich tonal colors." – The New York Times Daphnis et Chloé – "Style came mainly from soloists — especially the principal flutist Robert Langevin’s shapely contributions — and from the New York Philharmonic Chorus, directed by Malcolm J. Merriweather, which leaned into Ravel’s rich tonal colors. School may be almost out, but the Philharmonic passed this particular test with grit." Current as of June 5, 2025 CRITICAL ACCLAIM "Among the supporting cast members, the trio of Alexandria Shiner, Olivia Vote and Tamara Mumford were fantastic as the Three Ladies." – OperaWire The Magic Flute – “Among the supporting cast members, the trio of Alexandria Shiner, Olivia Vote and Tamara Mumford were fantastic as the Three Ladies. Allowed greater freedom in crafting the characters, we could feel their passion, their aggression, even their fear throughout their initial encounter with the sleeping Tamino. Always playing off one another, they brought different colors and rawness and at different moments, each singer was allowed to stand out amongst the trio.” __________ "Vote’s heartfelt aria...was filled with passion and soared effortlessly..." – Cincinnati Business Courier Ariadne auf Naxos – “In her company debut, mezzo-soprano Olivia Vote was excellent as the bespectacled Composer, who was the picture of frustration and despair at having his work destroyed by a bunch of silly comedians. Vote’s heartfelt aria in praise of music – “Musik ist eine heilige Kunst” (“Music is a holy art”) – was filled with passion and soared effortlessly over the lush orchestra. One of Ben Seadia’s touches included having the Composer remain on the stage as an observer during the Opera, which emphasized his infatuation with Zerbinetta.” __________ "Olivia Vote...supplied a pleasing, natural mezzo..." – CVNC Rigoletto – “ Olivia Vote as his sister and accomplice, Maddalena, supplied a pleasing, natural mezzo, not overplaying the vamp element so often applied to the role." __________ "Vote's voice shimmered with power..." – Washington Classical Review Alto Rhapsody – “This was the undisputed high point of the evening because of the soloist, mezzo-soprano Olivia Vote, whose voice has grown in richness since her striking Choral Arts in 2018. The Choral Arts Orchestra sounded its best in this darkly hued work, and Vote’s voice shimmered with power across its wide compass, easily outgunning the amassed forces.” FULL PRESS KIT LATEST NEWS REPRESENTATIVES Vanessa Uzan General/Opera Adrienne Boris Symphony
