DAN HOY

ACTOR

BIOGRAPHY

Dan Hoy has been praised by critics across the country for his “incredible voice”, “heartrending performances”, and “rousing” stage presence. He traveled the US and Canada with the 1st national tour of the Cats revival as Munkustrap, where critics described his performance as “rich,” “bold,” and “engaging,” with one reviewer stating, “Hoy’s performance is stunning. In almost every single scene he is in, he steals… He manages to be a Jellicle star.”

This season, Dan appears as Anatole in Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812 at the Idaho Shakespeare Festival and makes an exciting debut, soon to be announced.

CRITICAL ACCLAIM

“...a wonder..." – BroadwayWorld LA

Cats – “Specialty song and dances are filled with bold personality, the most engaging of which is Munkustrap (Dan Hoy), the alpha male protector of the group who also acts as narrator. In a show that can overwhelm the senses with all of its moving parts, his face in stillness is a wonder.”

"...stunning..." - The Signal

Cats – As a general rule, there is not a true protagonist in 'Cats,' but Hoy’s Munkustrap definitely tries to be in this production. Munkustrap is the show’s emcee and Hoy’s performance is stunning. In almost every single scene he is in, he steals. While Munkustrap is one of the few Jellicle cats that does not receive a musical introduction, he manages to be a Jellicle star.
